On behalf of the children, staff and governors I am very pleased to welcome you to Wavell Community Primary School.
I am extremely proud to be the Headteacher of our school, leading a team of dedicated staff and working closely with families to provide the best opportunities and experiences for all children.
Let me tell you about our school through our Wavell Values:
Respect and Responsibility
We believe that children should be encouraged to develop positive values towards themselves, each other, and the wider community of which they are a part of. We work together to create a school where positive behaviour is the norm, and all are treated with respect, understanding and sensitivity.
Compassion and Kindness
We strive to offer a nurturing, compassionate and inclusive environment where all children and adults show kindness and value one another.
Resilience and Courage
We want children to enjoy school and to make the best use of their time here. We are aware that, for most of our children, their time here may be limited due to mobility. We recognise and are understanding of this whilst striving to ensure that their time with us is memorable and that they leave here having fulfilled their true potential and with happy memories. We promote emotional wellbeing, encouraging children to develop courage and resilience, rising to the challenges they face.
Our Wavell Motto is ‘Be the best you’.
Excellence and Achievement
We implement a motivating and challenging curriculum, inspiring children to realise their potential and develop their passion for learning. Our school is a happy and safe place where children are encouraged and supported to achieve their goals, through a broad and balanced curriculum with four main drivers.
- A healthy, happy ME
- Learning for life
- My place in the world
- Talk to me, listen to me
Inclusivity and Equality
We are a caring and inclusive school and we value, nurture and support each and every child. We see children as individuals and celebrate their unique characteristics. Wavell serves a wonderfully diverse community and we celebrate the range of countries and cultural backgrounds that our children come from.
If you live in the area, please come and visit us. If you are moving to the Catterick area in the future please contact us and have a chat, we will be very happy to answer any questions and help to support your child’s transition to a new school. We are proud of our school and love to share our achievements as our website demonstrates. Please take a look around.
I look forward to welcoming you to our school.
